LUGANODANTE - We like you

The breakfast was disappointing. At 37 CHF, I expected better quality, and the setup felt awkward to use. There were no knives for cutting bread, and the grilled vegetables were tucked away out of reach. It felt more like show than real quality, which wasn’t what I expected by Swiss standards. The hotel itself is modern and sophisticated, with nice details like a pillow menu. Its location is very convenient, just a quick funicular ride from the main station and within walking distance of the parks and ferries.

We got our best sleep of the trip here, thanks to the luxury beds, and the service was amazing. It’s a beautiful hotel in a lovely location, with plenty of restaurants and shops nearby.

I keep coming back, and I still can’t quite say what the secret is. The breakfast is great, the bed is comfortable, and the rooms are nicely equipped. It’s right in the center, too. Staff are friendly and welcoming, from reception to the kitchen, and check-in and check-out are quick, digital, and handled with a smile. Everything feels clean, smells good, and has a smooth, modern atmosphere. I wish I could find a Luganodante wherever I travel. Keep up the great work.

After midnight, I tried to order a few sandwiches. The man serving was extremely unfriendly, gave me wrong information about the room’s night price, then refused to sell food. When I tried ordering to the room, he refused that too and claimed there were no toasts left. It’s ridiculous for a 4* hotel to refuse service and lie about running out of toast. Horrible. He needs to be fired on the spot! In response to the hotel’s statement: the issue isn’t that you have to follow regulations. Your employee lied and did everything he could to refuse service to hotel guests. I was first told ordering was possible. When I asked a hotel guest to order food, the employee realised it might be for me and made it impossible for them. First he asked stupid questions, then said he could only serve it to the room, which was fine with the guests, and then said he couldn’t wrap it in paper. None of that was the real issue. He was just trying to refuse service. When the guests insisted, he accepted the order, then made us wait five minutes before coming back to say he couldn’t make the sandwiches because there were no toasts left, in a 4 star hotel. To repeat, ordering sandwiches to the room was possible, and there’s no regulation against it. He confirmed that to me and to them. Lying and refusing service like this is a no-go.
