San Carlo Apartments

The staff were amazing, especially Patrick, but I had a really frustrating problem at checkout. I'd lost my wallet and had to cancel all my cards. Everything else was paid, and the small amount I still owed was the only issue. I asked reception if I could pay it by bank transfer given the situation, but they called the police instead and wouldn't accept that. They expected me to somehow create a card to pay. I had to call a friend to cover it. If Patrick hadn't been there, I would have given them one star. Lucky for them.

I booked a Suite for two nights. The air conditioner didn't work, so the manager brought a portable unit, but it was so loud we still couldn't sleep. The fridge was broken too, which we only discovered after buying food and having nowhere to store it. He offered some money back, but a month later they're refusing to take our calls. This review has had over 500 views. The money they saved by not refunding what they promised has cost them, with people booking elsewhere.

The hotel rooms were clean and welcoming, but the friendly staff are what made the stay special. They went out of their way to help, and nothing seemed like too much trouble. I really enjoyed my stay!

We only stayed one night, and I wish it could've been longer. The bed was comfortable, check-in and check-out were quick and easy, and the front desk was helpful. You can walk anywhere from the hotel, and it's just a three-minute walk to the funicular to the train. On another note, plenty of hotels in Europe don't have AC. I don't know why some reviewers expect things to be the same as in America when traveling abroad. Plan accordingly.
