A cosy, original hostel right by the lake in Lugano, with a great breakfast and lots to choose from. It feels personal, not like the impersonal hostels you see everywhere.

The Wi-Fi was pretty awful, so groups should bring a good data plan and power strips. There’s a kiosk, but the prices are way too high. The macarons were colder than warm, and the rules are very strict.

The food was good, and the staff were very polite and helpful. I slept well in the good room, and the area around Via Casoro 2 in Figino was interesting. The lake is about a five-minute walk away. You don’t need a car, since the bus stop is right in front of the hotel. I’d definitely come back for a holiday. Best wishes from Ticino.

A quaint little youth hostel in a village, not far from a lake and swimming beach. Seems well suited to families with children.

A clean, lovely oasis of calm, with a great spot for outdoor barbecues, even with a large group.
