It's a nice spot to sit and take in the lakeside view, but I wouldn't come here for a proper espresso. Both shots we ordered were watery and had gritty residue, which made them unpleasant to drink. The service wasn't awful, but the staff felt distant and indifferent, without much welcome. Nothing openly rude happened, it just seemed like they weren't really interested in being there. Sadly, not a nice experience.

The biggest schnitzel I've seen in der Schweiz! Everything was freshly made. The ravioli with ricotta and sage was great. Book ahead.

The view was nice, and the nearby street was very quiet. As for the meal, the food was quite average, though not bad. The salad dressing wasn't worth mentioning, the pasta was just a little overcooked, and the shrimp were good but very small. We paid a bit under CHF 50 for two courses. I've traveled extensively over 40 years and eaten at everything from mom-and-pop places to three-Michelin-star restaurants. This is my honest review of the restaurant only, Osteria La Riva next to Locarno.

Both the linguini vongole and vitello tonnato tasted authentic and were prepared really well. The cook is from southern Italy, and it shows that he knows his way around these dishes. The staff were friendly and capable too. We had a great meal and I highly recommend the place.
