Le Coucou Hotel & Restaurant

The food was delicious throughout, from the main courses to dessert, and we especially loved the cheese fondue. We had a wonderful lunch at Le Coucou Montreux. The staff greeted us warmly and were friendly the whole time, making us feel welcome as soon as we arrived. We weren't sure what to order, so they suggested some dishes, and those recommendations turned out to be excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed the meal and would recommend Le Coucou Montreux for its food and warm hospitality.

The views are a huge part of what makes Coucou special. Lake Geneva seems right in front of you, with Montreux, Vevey, and the mountains in view. When the weather's warm, sitting outside with a glass of wine before dinner is lovely. The food is very tasty too, and the service was excellent, with everything arriving promptly. I didn't stay at the hotel, just ate at the restaurant. The menu is great and quite extensive, with excellent fondue and Malakoff, a hot starter of fried cheese balls. The name refers to Malakhov Kurgan in Crimea. Swiss mercenaries fought in the Crimean War in the mid-19th century and, remembering food from home, reportedly fried cheese over campfires. By the end of that century the dish had become Gruyère in batter, fried in oil. It's absolutely delicious. It's one of the best restaurants in the area. The main drawback is getting there by public transport. If someone can drive you, I'd strongly recommend a visit while you're in Montreux or nearby. A remarkable place with great food and breathtaking views. I'd really love to return someday! -)

The fondue was probably the best we've ever had, and the food was delicious. The service was polite and attentive. We also loved the setting: the location was above the clouds, with amazing views, but still in a quiet area close to a playground. The atmosphere was really nice both inside and on the terrace. We'll most likely go again.

We celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary over dinner on 1/17/26, and it was a wonderful evening. The ambiance was spectacular, and the staff were professional and attentive, making us feel right at home. I had the Swissveal chop with morel sauce and potatoes, while my wife ordered the sliced veal. Both were cooked to perfection. We can't wait to return on our next visit to Montreux.
