Fleur du Lac

The room was cozy, and the coffee machine and complimentary little minibar were a nice surprise. I stayed four nights on a business trip. It has the feel of an old hotel but with all the comforts of the 21st century, plus a lovely lake view, friendly staff, good breakfasts, and really nice interiors, especially the downstairs bar.

I've been here many times and usually enjoy the restaurant's great food and decent service. On my last visit, though, the maître d' couldn't seem bothered to seat us. He'd just given a menu to a couple who arrived before us, and there were plenty of seats, but he told us, “The kitchen is closed,” then said they were full. That really surprised me. I won't recommend the restaurant to friends anymore if this is how the staff treat people.

The terrace stays cool and peaceful even when it's really hot, and the lake views are lovely. I've been back to this restaurant many times and always have a great experience. The service is consistently good, the steak sauce is famous around the region, and I loved the filet de perches this time.

Give it 4-5 years before you go. The restaurant is really nice, with good food and friendly service, but the rest of the place doesn't match that yet. There were cobwebs even on the restaurant lights, my room looked like it was from the 80s, and the staff seemed barely able to manage the hotel. Maybe it'll grow into a 5-star hotel in 4-5 years. Just be patient :-)
