La Palma au Lac

The staff’s care and attention really made our stay special. The location, comfort, and cleanliness were all spot on, and everything exceeded what we expected. We had a wonderful time and would absolutely recommend it.

The staff are very friendly, but La Palma feels stuck in the 80s. The room, furniture, bathroom, and tiny TV screen, about the size of my Mac screen, all give it a dated garni-hotel feel, with no technology to speak of. Avoid rooms on the second floor facing the mountain. The view is of the parking lot, and your window is level with the cars. I wouldn’t take one even if the hotel paid me 200 sfr per night. When the Grand Hotel, managed by Marriott, opens next year, I’ll definitely stay there instead. La Palma seems to be living on its 80s reputation.

The room was clean and comfortable, with a great lake view, and the air conditioning was powerful. Staff at reception and in the restaurant were friendly, and breakfast was good. Dogs are allowed in the outdoor area. There’s a parking spot behind the hotel for an extra fee, but EV charging isn’t available there. The public charging point in front isn’t part of that parking.

The sauna, steam room, and jacuzzis facing the water made for a peaceful place to unwind. Breakfast was rich and varied, and we loved eating it on the terrace overlooking the lake. Staff from reception to the restaurant were warm and attentive throughout. Hotel La Palma au Lac sits right by Lake Maggiore, steps from the train station and historic town center. The terrace and many rooms have breathtaking lake views. Our bright, modern room was impeccably clean, with a comfy balcony that was perfect for morning coffee and a waterfront panorama. With its stylish design, amenities, and service in such a lovely lakeside setting, it’s a real gem. Highly recommended, and we’ll be back!
