Alpvision Résidences Nendaz

The location is excellent, and the apartments in Nendaz are solid. The beds and sofa were worn, though they did the job. The kitchen could have been better equipped, but we got by without missing anything. It was my first trip to Switzerland, and I’d expected more. The apartment felt much like the ones we usually stay in in France.

The location is a real plus, right by the ski lift, and the views are okay. But I found this one of the worst places I’ve stayed. The entrance paths and road are often icy, and several people in my group fell hard. Inside, the kitchen barely has the basics; the knives were blunt and we had to buy a cutting board. The electrics felt dangerous: the fuses blew four or five times before we noticed lights in one room sparking when switched on, and the switch sparked once too. At night the room lighting is so poor we needed a phone light or torch. The beds are tiny and uncomfortable, the pillows lumpy, and the duvets either too hot or too cold. Thin walls also made it hard to sleep when friends stayed up late. The sink plumbing drains so slowly that dirty water can sit there for up to an hour, though the bath was fine. There were brown mystery marks on the walls beside beds and elsewhere. The tiny elevator is slow, clunky, and falling apart, a squeeze with people and gear. Given the cheap furniture and how little seems to have been spent on the place, you can get much better quality for the price at this resort.

We were seven friends in the five-bedroom penthouse for a week. The setup was basic but very clean, with decent-sized rooms, though a couple had low ceilings. The lounge felt a bit small, but the dining table was large and nice. We paid a reasonable amount for the bedding and towels package, around 30 or 40 euros each, and the final cleaning was fairly priced too, 155 total for seven people. There were two ski lockers for the larger apartment on the ground floor. The location was superb for skiing, almost ski-in, ski-out; we skipped skiing out and walked about 75 metres downhill to the main lift. We were lucky to have sun all six days. Happy days!

The front desk staff were always friendly and helpful, and we could borrow a cheese fondue set for New Year’s Eve for 10 CHF a day. The apartment was well equipped, with a private locker for each unit in the ski basement, and the Wi-Fi worked most of the time. The mountain views are impressive, and the location is spot on, just a few metres from the ski lift and a few minutes from Coop. We knew from the details beforehand that sheets and towels were our responsibility, so there were no surprise charges. The food in Switzerland, on the other hand, was awfully expensive, haha. I’ve no complaints and would definitely recommend staying here. Hope you get sun or snow for your holiday :)
