Gîte de Planchouet

We stopped for lunch here during our walk along two of the Bisse. It’s a lovely place with great views and made a good halfway point.

The host was so helpful before and during our stay, and the service was excellent and super friendly. Breakfast was amazing, with fresh fruit, croissants and yoghurt. A great place to stay, and I’d recommend it in both winter and summer.

We found the restaurant while out walking, but it was fully booked. The owner still made us feel very welcome and quickly set up a covered table outside. Our light lunch was just right and came out quickly. We’ll definitely come back!

The meat was cooked well, but the sauces were so salty they made my mouth and tongue sting. I scraped most of the spare ribs sauce off with bread just to finish the meal. The salad dressing was just as salty, and the French fries were drenched in oil and burnt. They were inedible, and there wasn’t an alternative like rice or potatoes. Last week, the filets des perches were also swimming in oily butter sauce. I told them directly, and they offered another serving of fries. Those were less burnt, but still soaked in oil and inedible. I didn’t get an apology or any sign they’d take the feedback seriously. A good restaurant would at least say they were sorry and pass it on to the cook. The cook clearly still has work to do. I wonder if they’ve tried those oil-soaked fries themselves. We’ve eaten here about 15 times over the last 1,5 year, but the two visits this year have been unacceptable. Apparently the cook has changed, which might explain the drop in food quality since last year. The food is currently too oily and salty, and it ruins the experience. I’ll give them one more chance in about a month and see whether they can improve based on customer feedback.
