Hôtel Alpes & Lac

The room was clean and simple, and the hotel is right across from the station, with taxis easy to get too. I’d happily come back for a business trip and would recommend it.

The breakfast was excellent and the staff were helpful. It’s about a 10-minute walk to the town center, though tourists can use the ticket for free travel throughout the Neuchatel canton instead. The hotel sits directly opposite the main station, which is handy for getting around, but rooms that don’t face the lake can be noisy. Our room was a good size with a large bathroom. There’s no air-conditioning, which might be a problem in hot weather.

The restaurant view was lovely, and check-in and check-out were easy. The room itself was very basic, though, and the bed, mattress, and pillows weren’t very comfortable. Our street-facing room was really loud, and at breakfast there was just one waitress trying to look after everyone. It was okay, but not great.

The lake view is beautiful, and parking is free right in front of the hotel. The rooms were clean and warm, as you’d expect in Switzerland. The shower pressure was a bit strong and hard to adjust, but it was fine in the end. Breakfast wasn’t included, though the receptionist kindly offered us apples. There was a coffee machine, but ours was broken and leaked onto the table.
