As a solo traveler from the U.S., I felt so welcome at Villars Lodge. The staff and students were incredibly accommodating, especially Daniel and Zoé, who went above and beyond, and Arthur too. They even arranged a late-night ride to the train station for my early airport trip, which helped a lot. Breakfast was simple and tasty, and they were great about dinner, lunch, and snacks as well. Highly recommend!
On summer Sundays, they serve a Lebanese barbecue that’s well worth trying, with different hummus, Lebanese bread, grilled meat, falafel, and desserts. The garden is pretty and peaceful, and the service is attentive and friendly.
I’d happily stay again after enjoying five nights here for skiing. My single room wasn’t large, but it was clean, comfortable, and reasonably priced. The shared bathrooms and toilets were clean and always available, and the shower stayed hot without any wait. The restaurant had a spacious, pleasant atmosphere, and its onion soup was fantastic. My only gripe is that the standard breakfast, though good, could include a hot dish at no extra charge. That small change would have earned five stars from me.
Kind, helpful staff and a convenient location. Parking is available on site or at the palace, and the train up the mountain is close by. The palace spa is also a nice option. Good value for money.
The drinks were great, but the food arrived cold and didn’t seem fresh. The menu had few healthy choices and not enough vegetarian options, and the prices weren’t justified by what we got. Service didn’t feel up to the standard of a good hospitality restaurant, and the staff clearly need training.
