Villa Orselina

We stayed two nights at Villa Orselina during our Switzerland trip in May 2024, and it was the high point. The balcony rooms were large, with excellent views, and the food was superb, including several exquisite compliments from the kitchen. Breakfast was filling, and there was a generous spread. For a small hotel, the number of staff was quite large, which is unusual in Switzerland, and everyone made an effort to make us feel special. It was also very convenient to take bus no. 3 into town from the doorstep. There were many great facilities indoors too. I'd love to stay there again.

From the lovely room upgrade when we arrived to all the little moments of kindness throughout our week, the staff made our honeymoon feel special. We'd never met better staff, and from the moment we walked in, we felt like royalty. This hotel is absolutely incredible, and we wish we could give the wonderful resort 100000 more stars. Thank you for making our stay so memorable. We're so grateful we found your lovely place in gorgeous Locarno!

We hadn't expected to eat here every night, but going elsewhere would have felt like a letdown. The staff made us feel so welcome, and the views from our room and the terraces were spectacular. We loved our stay.

The service really stood out: everyone was friendly, efficient, and knew their stuff. We were there for three nights in early September, and the hotel looks like it's been refreshed in stages, with some vintage furniture alongside newer details. I liked the overall look, though the kitschy pool-bottom accents and cartoonish room names cheapened the atmosphere for me. The view is one of the lake's best hotel views, and the location was handy, just a two-minute walk to the Madonna del Sasso staircase and the funicular down to Locarno center. Ascona was a ten-minute drive with a car. Breakfast had plenty of options and hot dishes, but the two lunches we had there weren't especially exciting, so we skipped dinner at the hotel.
