Hotel Albrici

This historic hotel has plenty of charm, with its centuries-old architecture carefully updated for modern comfort. The rooms are simple but comfortable, and though they weren’t originally designed with private bathrooms, the renovations have made the stay functional and provided the necessary amenities. The unused backyard feels like a missed chance for a little more space to relax. Service was warm and attentive, and the local specialties at dinner were enjoyable. Breakfast was fairly ordinary and might get repetitive on a longer stay. We weren’t told in advance about concerts right in front of the hotel, which made for mixed experiences. One evening, we enjoyed '77 Bombay Street', but after the event on the second occasion, the teardown noise went on through the night and disrupted us. The hotel card pricing was great value.

The building’s original style has been kept in the lovely decor, alongside more modern infrastructure, and the views are great. It’s a charming historic place, with thoughtful little details that make guests feel special. Breakfast was included in the price. It could be a bit better, but with so few rooms, I’d call that more of a wish than a complaint.

We can only comment on the customer service, not the hotel stay itself. We asked to cancel one night after a death in our family. The hotel initially refused, giving an explanation that didn’t feel acceptable at a time like that. We’d rather not go into it here. After a few discussions, we reached an arrangement, so things are even now.

The staff were warm and welcoming, and knew a lot about the history of the building and town. The rooms are gorgeous, with classic wooden floors and details alongside an updated bathroom and modern amenities. Breakfast was delicious and included in the price, so it felt like an outstanding deal. We visited in February, late in winter, and had great weather without big crowds. It’s an incredible place to stay, and I’d definitely return.
