There’s a gorgeous mountain view, and the Gondola Station is only a short walk away. The lunch menu is small, but everything was done really well. I’d especially recommend the Käseschnitten, made traditionally with high-quality cheese.

The standout for me was the breathtaking view of the Matterhorn from every room. The rooms were freshly renovated at the end of 2022 and are top standard. Moni and Daniel, the friendly hosts, are the second generation running this family mountain lodge, and they made us feel welcome and at home as soon as we checked in. I’d recommend Zurschmitten Tea-Room for a cozy, welcoming stay in the Valais Alps.

The views were killer, and the food was delicious. It was Ascension Day and this was the only place open, so we didn’t have much choice, but the meal was a pleasant surprise. Everything arrived quickly and tasted good. Goulachsouppe was a nice start, and the Käseschnitten was great too. I only wished the Bratwurst had come with better mustard.

A great stop on a hike. The staff were welcoming, there was a lovely selection of coffees, and I enjoyed a nussstengl on the sun terrace.
