Archie's Guesthouse

With the city centre full because of a trade fair, I stayed at Archies Guesthouse on a work trip to Basel. It was a bit out of the way, around 10 minutes by taxi or 20 minutes by bus to the centre. The travel vouchers we got on arrival were a lovely surprise and covered buses and trams for the whole trip. The room was huge, very clean, and the bed was enormous and really comfortable. Breakfast was continental, the ensuite was perfectly nice, and there was plenty of room to make ourselves at home. The host was wonderful with directions, and when my umbrella broke in the heavy rain, she gave me a replacement at no charge. There’s also a balcony outside the breakfast room that should be lovely in summer. No complaints, I slept well, and I’d ask for the same room if I came back.
