Mrs Heidi was very hospitable, and everything was well organized. The room was clean, with a good panoramic view, and the price was economical compared with the Ringenberg area. The bus stop is just 2 minutes away.

The host, an 89 year old man, and his daughter made us feel right at home. He knew when we were arriving, greeted us himself, showed us to our rooms, and helped arrange an early breakfast one day so we could catch a boat cruise on Lake Brienze. He was always happy to chat, too. He even showed us a clip of himself paragliding at 88, which isn’t something many people would even think of doing. We stayed with family for 2 days at Hotel Milan Bed and Breakfast, a quaint little place in the peaceful village of Ringgenberg near Interlaken. Our experience was really soothing. The rooms were adequate, though some people may find them small, especially the bathrooms. They were clean, well kept, and fitted the surroundings nicely. It’s not far from Interlaken Ost station. A bus from Ringgenberg Post goes there every ½ hour, and Ringgenberg station is only 200m away. Lake boat cruises also occasionally stop at the Ringgenberg jetty, so check the official timetables. After eating mostly meat and hard bread elsewhere in Europe, we found their breakfast especially satisfying: eggs, 2-3 kinds of soft bread, Croissants, juice, coffee, and delicious freshly made yoghurt. A salute to the host for doing so much himself at 89. Highly recommended if you want a quiet place with the essentials and enjoy chatting with people.

Ringgenberg is a lovely village by Brienzer lake, a nice bathing lake, and Burgseeli. The tourist information was very friendly, too. The hotel itself is pretty average, though it did offer useful extras like a baggage room for late departures. It’s close to Interlaken and easy to reach by train, bus, or on foot. Walking from Interlaken East takes about 3 km.
