AVOID: The ice cream is really good, and I’ve had it here several times with my grandmother. She always leaves a very generous tip. I brought a friend visiting from England to show him beautiful Switzerland and treat him to some, but this was the last time I’ll come here. I won’t return, and I’ll tell my grandmother and friends about how rude the waitress was. I had a large backpack with clothes I was going to donate in Ünterageri, and I needed to use the toilet after eating pears. The waitress was extremely rude when she saw me use it. She showed me a green piggy bank, told me to put money in it, and loudly announced that I’d used the toilet. She was around 40-50 years old, tall and thin, with short hair. This was definitely this exact restaurant, not another one, so good luck claiming it wasn’t yours. Her behavior didn’t feel like a good example of Swiss friendliness. AVOID: Extremely rude waitress.

The kitchen seemed to be closing, or may already have been closed, but the server still asked what we wanted and she and the cook made sure we got exactly that despite the language barrier. It was absolutely delicious. We were grateful for such a warm welcome. My friend and I had been camping across the lake and needed a late breakfast. I loved the atmosphere, with local older gentlemen enjoying themselves in the beautiful setting. It was my first visit to Switzerland, and people were so friendly. I was impressed and would like to bring my husband back for a longer stay at this hotel so we can explore more of the area.

The flammkuchen was lovely and the view was amazing, which makes the way we were treated a shame. After my partner politely asked for the menu, the staff member made a disparaging face behind his back. Then she dismissively tossed my payment card onto the table when it didn’t work, though another card worked fine. I can’t tell if she dislikes foreigners or customers in general, but hospitality doesn’t seem to suit her.

They said they were fully booked but let us have a drink, then reminded us of that after just 10 minutes. Soon after, they asked us to pay and started setting the table while we were still sitting there. The restaurant was still completely empty at 6pm, with only one other customer so far. Very impolite.
