The rooms had clearly had a lot of thought put into them, but the service and amenities didn't get the same effort. The hallways weren't as well done either. I got no help with my luggage, which I expected at a four star hotel. Instead, someone at the desk gave me a hard time about a booking. My card was declined for the first reservation, so I booked again and the card went through. They then seemed to say I was responsible for both bookings, including the first one even though it was nonrefundable. Quite a welcome, being threatened over a technicality. I was going to give four stars despite the kettle issue, until I found out on my last night that the hot water I'd been ordering to my room in a stainless steel capsule was being made with a coffee machine. They couldn't provide any at 11:30 on Saturday night because the machine was switched off. There was no other way to get hot water except a plastic coffee machine or plastic kettle. They couldn't spend the extra Fr.10 on a stainless steel kettle. I had planned to write a four hour review, but discovered the hot water situation on my last night.

The view from our private porch was absolutely outstanding, 11 out of 10 stars for that alone. The room was comfortable, the bathroom better than I expected, and the breakfast buffet almost overwhelming. Hotels at this level can start to feel alike, but that porch view really stood out.

The spa was a highlight, and the views were beautiful. Service was excellent, and the restaurant and breakfasts were outstanding too. Everything felt top level. An amazing stay at Thalwil Belvoir, and I'll definitely come back.

4/10
The rooms were beautifully designed and the lake views were stunning, but the service disappointed me. There weren't many staff and no one was available to help with luggage. Cleaning and spa services were only available at set times or on certain days, which was inconvenient. The hotel is quite far from major attractions, so a car is essential for getting around conveniently.

Switzerland was wonderful from beginning to end, and the people we met were kind and welcoming. The hotel was spotless, stylish and comfortable, with the details all taken care of. We felt at home right away thanks to the warm atmosphere. The restaurant impressed us too, with incredible food and top notch service. One of those trips that leaves you feeling full of happiness and wanting to return.
