After an exhausting cycling tour, we really enjoyed dinner here. The food was very tasty, service good and quick, and everything was clean. The traditional style suits this remote valley perfectly. Definitely worth a stop, and probably an overnight stay too!

The staff were very polite, and the room was perfectly clean. The price quoted by phone for the last room was 120 CHF, though Agoda showed 160 CHF, and they confirmed the 120 CHF when we checked in that evening. At payment, they said it was per person, making the total 240 CHF. We agreed on 180 CHF as a compromise, but the invoice came to 200 CHF, excluding dinner and other things. I can hardly believe they were acting in good faith.

The bed made an awful noise all night. When I tried to tell them and ask for some understanding, and perhaps reimbursement for such a terrible night, Olivie, who says he is the manager, almost beat me up. I made a complaint to the local police. Awful experience.

I didn’t stay overnight, but both breakfast and dinner were delicious. The new owner, from June 2016, was especially friendly and showed me the renovated rooms. They’re very big and look extremely cozy. I liked her enthusiasm, passion, and friendliness. She’s a great host. I can highly recommend the hotel if you’re after a couple of quiet days or just passing through. I’d definitely stay if I went back to Sta. Maria.

The cafe food was delish, and the owner is a really nice guy. I didn’t stay, but they’re renovating, so the place feels fresh.
