Hotel Ambassador

The location is perfect, right by the train station and town center. I was a little worried about the service after reading earlier reviews, but I was always greeted with a smile and the service was excellent. The rooms are small and old, though clean and tidy. The building’s architecture also means they can’t really be more spacious.

I’d rather sleep on the street than pay the 160 CHF I spent to stay in what felt like a jail cell. The bed was a tiny double, old, worn, and horribly uncomfortable. The halls were extremely narrow, and the windows small, like in a deluxe jail cell. Smoke came into our room from the big gap under the door while someone was smoking in the hallway. Staying here was hell, and I feel genuinely robbed. It’s the worst hotel experience I’ve had in my life so far. To make it even worse, as others have reported, the owners are entitled, grumpy, and utterly unfriendly. There was no sense of gratitude, service, or humanity.

The location and cleanliness earned the two stars from us. Beyond that, breakfast was very plain, the rooms felt dated and had no AC, and the bathroom fan was loud and seemed to run endlessly. They allow animals, but it didn't feel like they welcomed them. For the price, it wasn't worth it, and we won't be back.

The room and bathroom were clean, and breakfast was okay. The room itself was very small, though. When we asked for two separate beds, we got one large bed with two separate duvets, so I ended up sharing the bed with my business friend. At least we each had our own duvet 😀
