We waited at our table for 25 minutes before the owner noticed us. The woman who runs the place came across as cold and angry toward anyone who wasn’t Swiss. She mostly stood around delegating and doing very little herself. The food didn’t match the menu at all, and it wasn’t worth the wait, awkwardness, or price. The deer goulash was rotten and inedible. They insisted that letting it spoil in wine and mire poix for 15 days before cooking it in a flavourless sauce was necessary and worth the €30, even though none of us took more than a mouthful because it tasted rotten. We cook game meat for a living and know the difference between a gamey, cured flavour and spoiled meat. This was the worst we’ve had. We tried three times to order a beer and never got it, while the flies made us wish we’d eaten somewhere else. It’s sad to see such an important part of Splügen culture getting worse and worse. The waiter apologized and tried his best, but the owner seemed to make his job as difficult as possible. She was cold, unapologetically useless, and unforgiving.

They’re so unfriendly to tourists who aren’t Italian! It’s unbelievable to treat people this way when they’re trying to spend money in this tiny tourist town.

I stopped here for one night while heading to Germany. The service was excellent, breakfast was very good, and I loved the location. I’d recommend it to anyone wanting to spend a night in the Alpine mountains.

We were heading to St. Moritz, and since it was already 8 pm and nowhere else nearby was open out of season, I chose to eat here. It was my first time at the restaurant. The owner was very friendly, and the ravioli and macaroni were delicious and freshly made. There was a good wine selection too. I’ll definitely visit again when I’m nearby.
