b&b River Inn

Breakfast was a highlight for us, with freshly baked bread, fresh jam, plenty of fruit, and lots of yoghurt choices. Our room had a small kitchen with the cooking basics and cleaning soap, plus a heater that worked very well and a comforter made for sub-zero temperatures. There's coin laundry on the second floor, but you'll need the right change and the hours are limited. The hotel left keys for us to pick up. Each room also has its own coat and ski boot room, which helps keep winter gear out of the room. The hotel is right across from the lake, and opening the window lets you hear the soothing river. It's very near St Moritz railway station, about ten minutes by taxi, with lots of taxis outside; they all seem to be eight-seater vans, so there's room for big suitcases. We loved our short stay.

There's a ski and bike room in the basement, plus a ski closet near each room. The renovated hotel is about a five-minute walk from signalbahn. Our room was spacious and clean, with a mountain view and a kitchenette. The service was friendly.

The beds are really comfortable, and I loved the pillow. Breakfast is simple but plentiful and nicely presented. Rooms also have a well-equipped little kitchen if you're self-catering. The welcome is warm, and the place is immaculately clean. Highly recommended.

The hotel seems to have been fully renovated, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. Breakfast had a good, solid selection; I especially enjoyed the homemade jams and good bread. It's in a handy location on the road between Silvaplana and St Moritz, with parking right outside.
