Hotel Arte

My room at Boutique Hotel Arte was far smaller than advertised: I booked a Junior Suite listed as 30m², but the one I got was barely 20m². There was no temperature control, and the hallways smelled foul, like a landfill. Breakfast was supposed to open at 7:30, but at 7:35 staff were sitting and eating at guest tables while the chef was absent. I waited 30 minutes for boiled eggs, which arrived rubbery and undercooked. The waitress was hostile and unprofessional, giving us such dirty looks that we skipped breakfast on our third day even though we'd paid for it. The receptionist was kind and professional, but she'd only been there two weeks and didn't have authority to help. Management never appeared to deal with our repeated complaints. For a boutique hotel in such a premier destination, the poor hygiene, inaccurate room description, and rude service are unacceptable. I don't recommend staying here.

The room was so overheated that we slept with the balcony doors open, even though we're from Florida, and wore cold clothes on our foreheads. There are no central AC or heat controls in the rooms. We’re small to average sized, and I can't imagine how dangerous that could be for larger than normal people. There's no phone in the room either, which felt unsafe; contacting the front desk is only possible by email. The hotel is above a club, so expect very loud techno until 2 or 3 AM every morning. The stairwell had a horrible stench, like garbage coming from the restaurant, and I had to cover my mouth every time I stepped out of the elevator. Staff were rude. Calling this the worst hotel experience barely says it.

Francesca at the front desk was really friendly and helpful, with great suggestions for things to do around St Moritz. The hotel is in a perfect spot, the rooms have been nicely updated, and breakfast was very good too.

The room was Swiss clean, and the decor around the hotel was creative and really cool. We had a great weekend, with a unique restaurant and a lovely atmosphere. The location was excellent, and the front desk attendant gave us plenty of useful advice, with exceptional care and service. An absolutely incredible experience. I highly recommend it.
