Breakfast had plenty of choice and was good, and most staff were pleasant, especially those at the bar and breakfast. One woman at reception, middle-aged with long dark hair, was very rude to us one morning. We only learned by hearing another guest order that you could ask for poached or fried eggs. It would have helped if staff had told us. The room was meant to be deluxe, but didn’t look it. It seemed to have a recently laid laminate floor and a poor finish, with no skirting boards, tape around the smoke alarm, and flaking paint on the bathroom door frame. The beds were soft and uncomfortable. Towels were thin, hard, and rough, and the shower doors wouldn’t close properly. We have a better shower at home. The lounge area was disappointing too, with a wobbly table and two hard chairs. The fridge had one bottle of sparkling water and one still. Other 4-star places we’d stayed at offered free soft drinks in the minibar, but there weren’t any here. Those hotels also had Nespresso machines; here there was only a very small kettle, two sachets of Nescafe Gold, two little milk pots, and a limited tea selection. If you’d had coffee, there was no spare milk. We wouldn’t stay here again or recommend it.

The whole place feels like a time capsule, but it’s been restored beautifully. The lobby is charming and classic, with huge windows and gorgeous views. Guest rooms have been fully renovated and are extremely spacious, with lovely bathrooms and windows. The location is great, quiet, and easy to get around on foot, with plenty of boutiques, restaurants, and shops within a 5-minute walk. The staff were genuinely accommodating and worked hard to help me even in the early morning, especially the night auditor. I was in awe of how nice everyone was. I’d recommend this hotel 10/10 to anyone looking for a luxurious stay with perfect staff.

The room was the real letdown. It felt more like a $2.00 motel than a hotel at this price in St. Moritz. The bathroom was basic at best, there was blood on a towel and the sink was dirty, and the paint on the walls looked ragged. I reported the problems to the front desk, but nothing was done. The TV looked about 16 inches, so I didn’t even turn it on. The hotel feels outdated and needs major renovation to match St. Moritz’s upscale reputation. The stay began well, though: the shuttle picked us up at the train station, the front desk service was good, and we enjoyed the walk across the lake to the White Turf Races. The location is great, but I wouldn’t stay here again.

I’d probably choose Laudinella next time. Its more social, modern lobby felt much more useful to me as a younger traveler, with better space to work, charge devices, or spend time with others. Many amenities, including the fitness center and yoga classes, are there too, across the street. Reine Victoria’s lobby is grand but quiet, and the chairs in its beautiful, light-filled atrium hallway felt more like places to wait than relax. The hotel itself is historic, beautifully renovated, and well maintained. My room was attractive and comfortable, and I loved the balcony view. The bathroom was clean and worked fine, but felt basic for a four-star hotel, and the hairdryer kept shutting off from overheating. I was glad I’d brought my own. Breakfast was a real highlight: extensive, with nearly every option and especially good Swiss baked goods. There’s also Vic’s bar and restaurant and a theater for performances. The ski room is large, with a small rental shop next to it, and a separate exit at the back means fewer stairs. From there, it’s easy to walk or take a bus to the ski signalbahn. I hadn’t realized there was a Laudinella group shuttle from the train station. I used it when checking out, but on arrival the local bus came shortly after, so I took that instead. The nearest stop is Hallenbad. Coming from Dorf, the hotel is easy to spot about a block down the street on the left. Check-in was quick, though staff only mentioned breakfast and the ski room downstairs. A lobby QR code with amenity and hotel information could help guests, especially with so many languages spoken. I also wasn’t sure at first that Reine Victoria has no pool of its own. The amenities page pointed to an affiliated facility across the street, but it seemed temporarily closed when I was there. I was satisfied with my stay and enjoyed the historic character, ski room, and breakfast. Laudinella’s atmosphere just suits my taste and travel style better.

We wished we’d booked the sister hotel. The shuttle driver didn’t secure our luggage, and our suitcase handle broke. Staff weren’t helpful, informative, or friendly either. The downstairs renovation had recently been done, but with the maze festival gallery there the day after we left, the place felt chaotic. There was no bar open and nowhere to sit in a lounge.
