Hotel Linde AG

We were welcomed right away, and the staff put tables together for our group of six. The view of the town square and mountains was gorgeous. We started with fresh bread and olives, then tried several dishes: beef tartare, filet, schnitzel, and their homemade corn cream croquette, which was delicious. The wine and beer selection was great, and the service was kind and terrific with English speakers.

A quiet place with a good atmosphere, and the waiter was polite. I came around 9pm, when the only options were salad and some light food. The salad was fresh and prices reasonable, though the apricot cake was a bit too sour for me. I couldn’t find tiramisu or chocolate cake on the dessert menu, which was mainly ice cream.

Of the three restaurants on Dorfplatz, Linde has the nicest outdoor setting, while Oberdeck is easily the best for food. I’ve been to Oberdeck multiple times and have never been disappointed. Linde was decent, about a four-star experience: the salad and spring roll starters were ordinary, the fish was great, and the veal paillard was good. Service varied, sometimes friendly and sometimes overwhelmed. The other restaurant is Engel.

We decided to try this place after spotting it, and I’m glad we did. The three-course meal ended with wild venison, the best meal I’ve had in a long time. The food was amazing, service excellent, and the view beautiful.
