FOCUS Hotel

The service here was the best I've experienced in a long time. Everyone was incredibly friendly, and the hotel was clean and modern. Room service had ended by the time I arrived, but the kind woman at reception arranged food for me from the wonderful Thai restaurant in the hotel. The staff went out of their way to handle my requests with a smile. The next morning they got me a taxi and even checked in when it was running late. Thank you!

We didn't hear any noise from the train station, though perhaps our room was on the quiet side of the building. The rooms were clean, and the bed was comfortable, but the pillows hurt. We only dealt with the staff at check-in and checkout, and the women there were pleasant and very efficient.

We stayed here through a Korean tour company, and I felt we were treated differently because of our race. When we arrived, staff made our tour guide read the “rules” aloud and wouldn't hand over our keys until the whole group had recited them. Most of the rules were about not eating in the rooms and only drinking coffee in the dining area. Other guests who weren't Asian didn't seem to have to go through anything similar to get their keys. It was embarrassing for our group and our guide in front of the other guests. We'd stayed at more than 10 hotels in Switzerland during this trip and never had this happen elsewhere.

I didn't sleep at all. The hotel is right beside the train tracks, and trains pass through the night about every 15-20 minutes. Some were so loud it felt as if they were going through the room, which may explain the free earplugs in every room. I was there for only four hours, but if I'd had to stay longer, I'd have found another hotel and paid myself, even though it was a business trip. The room was okay, but the bed and pillows didn't suit me. That's just personal preference.
