Sedartis Swiss Quality Hotel

We had warm weather, a great drinks selection, tasty canapés, and lovely views of the lake and Alps at the rooftop bar for a 50th birthday party. The staff were excellent and made sure everyone always had a drink.

The location is the main draw for me, right beside the station. I’ve stayed here every year for more than five years. The rooms are a decent size, though basic, and breakfast feels quite institutional. It’s a perfectly serviceable local hotel, but the prices keep going up!

The location is great, right outside Thalwil train station, and the hotel itself is lovely. We were in a front-facing room looking toward the station, though I think rooms at the back may look over the lake. The bed was very comfortable, with two separate duvets, and the bathroom had underfloor heating. There was a coffee machine but no way to make tea. I asked reception for a kettle and it took an hour to arrive. The USB charging plugs were a nice surprise, since we hadn’t realized we’d need a different plug for UK to Switzerland charging.

We loved walking down to the lake from this beautiful spot, and the staff were so friendly. The cleaning staff even left chocolates on our bed, which was really kind. Breakfast was our favorite of the whole Europe trip, and it’s nice being just outside the city, only a five-minute walk from the train station. The windows did a good job blocking outside noise. We did hear footsteps from the floors above during the day, though it was completely quiet at night. That made it a little hard to sleep during the day while adjusting from a US schedule. We’d absolutely stay here again.
