Hotel Weiss Kreuz

I first came here to eat during the holidays when I was very little, and I've always enjoyed the atmosphere. This was my first time staying overnight, and the service was amazing. The staff made us feel special and gave us a warm welcome while still keeping that Swiss discretion. The breakfast buffet had a big variety and was so good I ate too much. They took care of the Covid measures without making them too noticeable. It's a family-led hotel and definitely worth a visit. If I ever hold a seminar, I know where I'll go in Switzerland.

Before starting the Via Spluga hike, I stayed here for one night. The hotel was nice, clean, and quiet, and I enjoyed the upstairs lounge for coffee, tea, or drinks. We walked over from the train station, and the hotel is right on a main street.

The rooms aren't especially large, but they're definitely sufficient, and the restaurant is very good. We had a very nice, pleasant stay, especially thanks to the outstanding, warm service at reception and in the restaurant.

The lounge on the top floor has lovely views, and the street-facing room was quiet despite the traffic. The staff were friendly and professional, clearly experienced with international guests. For dinner we chose à la carte instead of the special New Year's Eve set menu, and it was a very pleasant surprise. The food is regional and seasonal, sometimes with an international twist, like locally raised salmon on what I assume was Tom Yam-spiced risotto. There are traditional dishes too, such as Sauerbraten on mash. The beef for that comes from a local ultra-bio farm, and you can taste the quality. A great stop to break up a trip across the San Bernardino, and the restaurant is worth a detour if you're nearby.
