Minster Hotel

We only used the pool, and I liked that there weren't too many people around. Renovation is really needed, though. I believe it's in process...

Our school tour group of 45 had the whole lodge to ourselves, and out of the five hotels and B&Bs of varying luxury we stayed in on the trip, this was the favorite for most of us. It had that rustic ski lodge, family cabin feeling. The kids loved the ping pong and common areas, and the clean, crisp air at night came in when we opened the windows to cool our rooms. I woke to the church bells each morning and liked listening to them. We ate very well, especially that cozy, hearty Alpine mac n cheese. I'd love the recipe if you're willing to share; I'll look for something similar to make for my family in the cold months. Thanks for making us feel at home. We'd love to visit again. The rooms were big and clean, the beds comfortable, and the man at reception was friendly and helpful. It's an interesting hotel, with a really fun dance floor on the bottom level. There is a pool, but using it costs extra. We got ready to swim and went to pay in euros, then found out the woman only accepted Swiss francs. Since we'd just arrived in Switzerland, we didn't have any, and she wouldn't exchange our euros. She wasn't very friendly, which was really disappointing.

The hillside view, grazing cattle, and gentle cowbells made the quiet setting feel wonderfully Swiss, and the drive to Lucerne was gorgeous. We came with students and adults and everyone loved the hotel. Our rooms were clean and roomy, and the food was delicious. The couple who run the place were fun and very accommodating. The bed felt a little hard to me, though my husband was fine with it. We skipped the pool, but it looked huge. The old helicopter outside was interesting to see, too.
