Mountain River Resort

We stayed for a week over Christmas in a spacious, very clean 3.5-room apartment on the top floor. The balcony had a stunning view, and Mr. Mansson gave us a warm welcome that made us feel at home. The area is quiet and away from the busy ski villages, which made it easy to relax. There’s a little hill right beside the building where the kids spent hours sledding. The kitchen has two small cooking plates. They’re limited, but worked fine for simple meals. My only suggestion is to update the smart TV so it works better.

Martin and Pere Henry took great care of us, including serving a very good breakfast and helping with whatever we needed. I stayed here for a couple of days with friends, and we had a really good time. The accommodation was comfortable, nicely furnished, and had everything we needed. We were very pleased with the service, and I’d definitely recommend staying here.

Martin kept in touch throughout and was very helpful and accommodating. When we’re back in Switzerland, we’d certainly consider staying at the Mountain River Appart again. We visited in May 2025, when most local restaurants and other outlets were closed, so having a kitchenette with a hob, oven, coffee machine, toaster, and basic cooking utensils worked well for breakfasts and dinners. The room was spacious, with a large, comfortable bed, a bath, a separate shower, and a big balcony with fantastic views. It’s a quiet spot. The village has a few shops and cafes and restaurants; for more choice, you can drive to Champery or Troistorrents, take the train, or walk for about an hour. We had good meals everywhere we ate, and the locals were friendly and accommodating. The area is great for hiking. We used the AllTrails app to find plenty of lovely walks starting right from the front door.

Waking up to morning sunlight through the magnificent window view was an incredible part of the stay. The hotel staff welcomed us to Switzerland with a charming atmosphere, and they were always smiling and ready to help.
