The Lodge Verbier

We spent three nights at the lodge and only wished we could have stayed longer. The service was incredible, with a real sense that nothing was too much trouble, and it made the place feel like home, if home were a luxury retreat. After that, it’s hard to imagine staying anywhere else. If you get the chance, go. It’s worth every hard-earned penny.

The Lodge itself is unbelievably cosy and modern, with Swiss wood throughout, and there was plenty for all 25 of us to do, including the children aged 2 to 10. The mountain view was wow, too. But the service is what really got to me. I’ve spent my whole life thinking about what good customer service should look like, and usually there’s something missing wherever I go. I’d started to think the kind of service I imagined didn’t exist. Then we came to The Lodge, and it completely blew my mind. The team seemed to notice every tiny detail about each person in our group, and they somehow had the kitchen and food right at a glance. I could say so much more, but words don’t capture it. You have to experience it to understand. It was the best service I’ve ever had anywhere. 🥰

The Lodge is about a five-minute walk from Verbier and 250m from the main lift station. Its 1,200m2 are arranged across five floors linked by an elevator, with nine spacious, beautifully designed bedrooms, including two Master Suites. It sleeps up to 18 guests, with room for another six children in the purpose-built Bunkroom. In summer it operates as a boutique hotel, with individual rooms available through the season or the option to hire the whole Lodge, making it a nice setup for family and friends. In winter, exclusive-use bookings require at least 7 nights. Individual rooms may be available if the property is still unbooked within six weeks of arrival. For travel, Geneva Airport is about a two-hour drive away, while Sion Airport, which can receive private planes, is 45 minutes by car. Zurich Airport is around three hours away. Helicopter transfers from Geneva, Zurich and Sion can be arranged on request. From Geneva Airport, you can also take the train to Martigny, about a 30-minute drive from The Lodge, or continue to Le Châble, a 15-minute drive away.

I’m in love with Verbier. After a four-hour walk with people I’d never met who treated me like family, I had a swim and spent time in the jacuzzi, then went to bed by 9. The next day I felt like a million dollars.
