The staff were unresponsive, and we had some very strange experiences, to say the least. The place feels run down. Those once-beautiful yellow awnings haven't been replaced in a decade or more. I wouldn't stay here again.

The location beside the train station is really handy, and the basics in the room worked: air conditioning in summer, hot water, and TVs with international channels. I've stayed at Astra Hotel in Vevey twice. The rooms feel dated, and the water pressure wasn't consistent, but the hot water was dependable. The biggest comfort issue came in winter, when the air conditioning was switched off and the room got uncomfortably warm. To cool it down, I had to open the windows to the very cold outside air, and then station noise came in. For a three-night stay, I also think a four-star hotel should include more than one bottle of water. Paying 6 CHF per minibar bottle feels excessive. The facilities are fairly standard: a basic gym, and the spa wasn't operating during my visit. I didn't eat at the restaurant, though it looked popular, so the food is probably good. Breakfast was a disappointment for 25 CHF, with a limited, unimpressive buffet that could use more imagination. The hotel is convenient and comfortable enough, but a few changes would make it feel more in line with four-star expectations.

Vevey was easy to explore from Astra Hotel, right in the heart of town. The lakeside promenade, Chaplin's World museum, and local markets were all within walking distance. The room was great, but what made the stay especially memorable was the service. The staff were welcoming and always ready to help, with a smile. Special thanks to Najd for going above and beyond with our requests. Astra Hotel made our visit feel like a real treat, and I'd highly recommend it to anyone coming to Vevey, Switzerland.
