The apartment worked really well for our family of five over six nights at Christmas in 2025, and we'd happily recommend it. It has three bedrooms and two bathrooms, so five or even six people should fit comfortably. We liked having dinner together in the fully equipped kitchen, which opens onto a spacious living room where we could unwind and talk about the day. There’s also an “office” that could be used as an extra sleeping space, though we didn’t need it. The kitchen and one bedroom both have balconies with views across town toward the Matterhorn. Upstairs, the bathroom’s heated floors and towel warmer were great, and we enjoyed the soaking tub. The shower never seemed to get beyond warm, but it wasn’t a major problem. Getting to the lifts was easy: the Matterhorn Express gondola is about a six-minute walk away. The center of town, with all the restaurants we wanted, was roughly twelve minutes on foot, and the station about fifteen. We never needed a taxi. The free bus to the station was handy on the morning we took the Gornergrat Bahn. After dinner, we also enjoyed the walk back to the hotel. Felicitas was a huge help before and during the trip, including with some much-needed restaurant suggestions. Breakfast starts at 7 a.m., so we could eat before heading to the gondola. It was consistent, fairly priced, and had a good choice of food and drinks, especially the fresh bread. It wasn’t a standout meal, but it was good value and one less thing to plan. On Christmas Eve, we found homemade cookies and a card waiting for us, a really thoughtful touch. The ski and boot rooms were clean, roomy, and well arranged. The boot dryers and anti-odor spray were especially useful. We’re not sauna people, but it was clean, too, and a nice option after a cold day if you plan ahead for availability.

We had two reservations that were fully paid, but our passports were lost during our trip in Switzerland. It was an unexpected emergency outside our control, documented by the police, SBB, and the Brazilian Consulate. We had to cut the trip short and go straight to Zurich to deal with it, so we couldn’t reach the hotel. We let the hotel know as soon as it happened and sent the documents, but they still refused a refund, credit, or any other arrangement. I understand cancellation rules, but in a clearly documented force majeure situation I expected some empathy and common sense. This was a great disappointment, and I’m sharing it so other travelers know how the hotel responded to a real emergency.

The receptionist was full of energy and had a lovely smile, and she was very helpful while we were there. Our room also had a beautiful balcony and a magnificent view. It was spotless, and the shower was fantastic, with great pressure. Breakfast was a high standard and cost just 16 FC, which felt like good value. We stayed two nights and would happily return and recommend the hotel.

The staff were all friendly and helpful, and the hotel was good value. Its basement has a large, well equipped shared kitchen where guests can make their own meals, which is useful in a town where restaurants are very expensive. Breakfast is an inexpensive CHF14, though the buffet was only okay, not great. The hotel isn’t as central as some others, but it’s about a five-minute walk to downtown. The walls are thin enough that you can hear pretty much everything the neighbors are doing. Also, be aware that they’re very strict about not eating meals in your room.
