Hotel Chesa Valese

The firm pillows were a big plus for me. I wish I knew their brand so I could buy one for home. Breakfast was delicious, with a huge selection, and we also appreciated the free snacks in the afternoon, mini-fridge items, coffee in the room, and the pickup and drop-off at the station. The room was amazing, the bathroom beautiful, and the place felt homey. The staff were warm and welcoming when we arrived, completely changing my first impression from the phone and chat conversations, which hadn’t felt very friendly. I’m glad I gave it a chance, and we’d stay again and recommend it.

It’s easy to walk to shops, bars and restaurants from this fairly central spot, but the walk to the main mountain lift takes about ten minutes, which isn’t much fun in ski boots every morning. Chesa Valese is a very small, quiet hotel with only 15 or 16 rooms. The rooms are clean and well equipped, though a little small, and the front desk staff were helpful. Our room was cleaned nicely each day, and breakfast was good. The common areas are lovely, but there’s no bar, much going on, or evening meal option. It could be perfect for some, but if easy lift access and evening drinks or a meal matter to you, you may want to look elsewhere.

The buffet breakfast was amazing, with a broad choice of fresh, homemade food and European specialties. The hotel is charming and elegant, very quiet, and the staff were gracious and helpful. Beds and bedding were super comfortable. It’s centrally placed for restaurants and bars, with the free ski shuttle five minutes away and ski rental just one minute away. There’s also a free train station shuttle and ski storage, with a locker for each room that fits two pairs of skis, poles, boots on heaters, and helmets.

I came at the end of October 2025, when it was already low season in Zermatt, and got a Matterhorn-view room for a reasonable price. The sauna was especially comfortable on a rainy day. The location was perfect and the staff were all very friendly. I loved the hotel, and it became my favourite memory of my Switzerland trip. Highly recommend it.
