Haus Monte Cristo

The views from Haus Monte Cristo are spectacular, and our spacious three-bedroom flat worked well for six of us and our baby. It had a balcony, two bathrooms, a lovely kitchen and living area, and a great dining table. They provided a cot and high chair, and the flat had everything we needed to cook, along with towels and shower gels and shampoos. The hotel is a minute’s walk away, which made it easy to ask for help. We asked about the lack of a larger bin for emptying our rubbish, and hotel staff came to collect it. There’s also a laundry area in the building’s basement, but the washing machine and dryer need coins. The basement has a ski room for skis and boots. When there’s snow, you can ski out of the chalet onto the path at the end of the red slope, which anyone can ski on. At the end of the path, you have to take off your skis and walk a minute to reach the Matterhorn express. Skiing back in is harder, because at one point you have to walk uphill with your skis. To reach the sunegga ski lift, you can take a bus or a taxi, which costs about 25 CHF depending on how many people you are. We had a great stay and would recommend it.

A lovely, popular place, though you can find some solitude now and then on the beautiful hikes.

The kitchen corner was great, and the place had a very dignified feel. We had a lovely time!
