For the price, you get what you pay for: somewhere to sleep and shower. The building felt very outdated, and you can smell that as soon as you enter. There’s no elevator, and the toilet is shared, though the shower is in the small room. We paid for two adults and a child who isn’t a toddler, but only got a twin bed. It’s near the station, though Zermatt is a small village anyway.

The room was charming, with a balcony and sliding doors, and the location made it easy to walk to the station and everything else. I liked that after a long journey we could simply come in, find a note with our name and the room key, and head upstairs. We had a shower in the room, which was good, but the shared bathroom is the reason I can’t give another star.

The hostess was so warm and welcoming that I’d happily stay again. Rooms were cosy, comfortable, quiet and spacious, with a breathtaking Matterhorn view. It’s just a couple of minutes on foot from the train station and bus stop. There’s no elevator and they don’t take credit cards, the only downsides for me, but the stay was absolutely worth it.

You can see the Matterhorn right from the rooms, and the train station is only about five minutes away, which is very convenient. One drawback is that nobody is at reception, so arriving at an odd hour and getting into your room can be challenging. Still, one of the best places in Zermatt.

The room was basic, like the others in what used to be a village, but the view was mind-blowing. There was also a play area behind the hotel, shared by a few nearby hotels, which was nice to have with kids. The location is great, only four minutes from Zermatt’s main station.
