Hotel Jägerhof

The owner was so kind and attentive that it felt more like staying in someone’s home than being a hotel guest. The atmosphere is warm and familiar, and all the little personal touches made us feel at ease. Everything was well looked after, including the comfortable rooms. We had a truly wonderful stay and would definitely love to come back. A charming place with genuine hospitality.

For a stay where most of your time is spent skiing, this hotel may work as a budget option. This review is about the hotel, not the apartments. I was in single room 447. The location is handy for skiing, a few minutes’ walk from the green bus line. My room had a good view, though it didn’t look fully out toward the mountains and nature. The staff were very friendly and warm, and I think management cares about guests and making improvements. Breakfast included some organic products, and both room service and cleaning were excellent. I struggled with the room, though. The sound insulation between rooms was poor, the TV remote didn’t work, the hand soap was nearly gone when I arrived, and the ventilation made periodic noise when switching on and off. The air also seemed dry, possibly because of low humidity. The atmosphere and look weren’t to my taste, as I prefer a simple, functional, modern Scandinavian style. I’d asked for a quiet room, but that seemed hard to arrange. I could hear the neighbours from after 10 p.m. until midnight. Reception said they’d ask them to be quieter, but it happened again the next night. They couldn’t move me to a quieter room. Things improved after those guests left.

After a day exploring Zermatt, it was always a treat to return and rest our legs. The hotel has lovely views, spotless rooms, and such warm hospitality. Our room had a spacious balcony overlooking the city and sky, and breakfast was fantastic. The staff were consistently friendly and helpful. The bathroom and shower were my favorites of our whole trip in Switzerland.

Getting to the Matterhorn Express was easy, at most a 10-minute walk, and the ski room was great. The front desk staff were always happy to help, even mapping out ski routes for me. My room was cozy and warm, with soft bedding and a down comforter. Breakfast and dinner were lovely, and the shower was hot. I was glad to find a room for a solo traveler. The single room with a twin bed was a great price and had a nice view. I’d stay again in a heartbeat.
