Hotel Sol Béni

The staff were friendly and patient with my limited French. I forgot my adaptor at my previous hotel and have only foreign electronics, so the front desk clerk tried to find one for me. He made a few calls, then gave up and didn't come back. This feels more like a dorm for the sports academy operating here than a hotel. The rooms are basic at best. The large bathroom seems connected to another dorm room that has been locked off. Hot water was a puzzle, and I had to go to the front desk for help because there was no phone to call them. The drain was so poor I was standing in water, and I got out when it looked like it might spill over the barrier onto the floor. There's no mirror in the room, only one in the bathroom, and no basic hotel amenities beyond a single towel. It's extremely dark, with one dim light over the bed and a desk lamp that doesn't work. My ground-floor room faced the football field, and people walking past could see straight in whenever I opened the curtains to let in light. At lunch, the restaurant had few options. The attieke I ordered was hard, chewy, and overpriced, though the beer was fine. I was told both the indoor and outdoor pools were out of service, then later saw people training in them. Would I return? Absolutely not. Recommend it? Maybe if you're looking for a football academy.

I had money go missing from my bedroom, and the staff's behavior made the stay even worse. The swimming instructor who uses the pool was especially unpleasant, as was the housekeeping manager. She questioned me about dirty sheets I'd put on the floor to be changed, even though I'm a paying guest entitled to privacy, then tried to tell me what I could and couldn't do. I absolutely do not recommend this place. Don't go.

The kids' holiday programme is great. They can choose football on its own or take part in other activities too, like swimming and basketball.

The outside looks nice, but the rooms don't look like the photos and the service is really bad. Reception was poor, and the receptionist with trimmed hair was very rude to customers. A lot of the workers behave as if they're being begged to do their jobs.
