Tamanu Beach Resort

We’ve booked to come back in September this year. Even after I broke my leg on a walk, the management and staff at Tamanu Beach Resort were so caring and made sure I had everything I needed. We stayed there in September 2025, and our Lagoon View room was just right for the holiday we needed. The breakfasts were a delight, and the resort exceeded our expectations. There’s still more on the island we didn’t get to do last time. Thank you to the wonderful team at Tamanu!

The food was a letdown too. The Sunday BBQ had a small selection, and the meat was cold and tough. Even the included breakfast was poor in both taste and quality. At reception, Nikki made us feel as if our questions were bothering her. We paid a lot for three nights, but the room hadn’t been cleaned properly. I used the chopping board and knife to cut fresh fruit for our baby, and they were never cleaned or replaced. There wasn’t any dish soap, sponge, or even a kitchen sink for me to wash them myself. The bathroom needed a good clean as well. With only fly screens and slatted windows, no glass, we could hear everyone at night and had trouble sleeping. I’d book next door if I could do it again. The service and standards don’t justify what the owners charge.

We had a wonderful four nights at Tamanu Beach. It’s a comfortable, laid-back resort on a beautiful beach, and there are two other resorts nearby for more choices at lunch or dinner. Lovely Simon collected us from the airport and got us onto island time, and we enjoyed every minute from then on.

There are lots of gluten-free options, which matters to me as someone with coeliac disease. The staff were kind, always smiling, and helped us book scooters. We could also use kayaks, paddle boards, and snorkel gear for free. One night we went to the island event and loved it, the food and cocktails were amazing, and the cultural dances made for a beautiful atmosphere. Tamanu’s location, amenities, rooms, staff, food, and drinks all blew my partner and me away. We didn’t even want to leave for Rarotonga main land. You can walk straight from your room to the water and snorkel among so many fish. Every part of it felt magical. 10000/10.
