Te Vakaroa Villas

We’ve stayed in plenty of places around Rarotonga over the years, and Te Vakaroa is still our favourite. Its spot on Muri Beach looks out toward several small islands, and the design is beautiful throughout. The inner garden is lovely, while the large infinity pool and spa overlook the golden sand, blue ocean and coconut covered islands, framed by huge coconut trees. It really does feel like paradise. The rooms are spacious, cool and comfortable, with a good indoor-outdoor flow. There’s a fridge-freezer and microwave in the kitchen. You can walk to lots of food options, including The Night Markets, Takatimu Taco’s and Sandals Restaurant next door at The Pacific Resort, where you can eat by the beach. The staff are polite and respectful, and respond quickly when needed, while the place still feels private. There’s an age limit for children, so you won’t have kids running around. That suited us, whether you’re travelling without your children or are retired and feel you’ve done your time. We’ve added it to our annual calendar. Make it yours if you want a taste of heaven in paradise.

The views were a standout, especially from the primary bedroom, balcony patio and pool, with Muri Beach and the lagoon’s clear water right outside. Our two-bedroom accommodation was roomy, beautifully designed and had everything needed for a comfortable visit. The staff responded promptly and did a great job with all our requests, and the fresh, healthy island breakfast each day was lovely. No complaints at all, we had a blissful stay at Te Vakaroa Villas and would highly recommend it.

Breakfast arriving each morning was such a delicious treat. The staff were professional, cheerful, welcoming and kind, and we’ll definitely return one day. Te Vakaroa was the first stop on my 60th birthday trip to the Cook Islands, and we felt so welcome during our three days living in style right on the beach. It rained each day during our mid-May visit, but that didn’t spoil it. Captain Tama's next door kept us entertained, and the Muri night market stalls and cafes were only a minute away.

We loved the small resort feel, and for most of our stay the pool was practically ours alone. The beach was beautiful to enjoy from the lanai. Our villa was clean, spacious and well equipped, and Nick, Poko and the staff were gracious and accommodating. A special thanks to Poko and her team for going above and beyond to make things so lovely. I can’t wait to come back with my husband.
