The fireplace, ceiling, walls, and floors are all full of lovely details. The whole building is beautifully crafted, and seeing it really makes your jaw drop. Such an amazing place to stay, or just pop in for a drink.

We had a lovely view from our room, and the staff were friendly. The beach is right there and good for swimming, with free, secure parking too. Breakfast was good, and so was the restaurant. I’d happily recommend it.

The breakfast was decent, nothing special but perfectly OK. I wasn’t very taken with Ancud, and the hotel felt much the same, pretty uninspiring. Our room was cramped, and the shower head was coming loose from its hose, spraying water everywhere instead of properly through the head.

The views from the dining room and bar are lovely, and every so often penguins gather on the rocks just offshore. The hotel itself is a bit rustic, set above the remains of an old Spanish fort. Service was slow, though they did get the job done.

The hotel restaurant really wasn’t good. We’d have been better off walking into town for food that was both nicer and cheaper.
