Novotel Arica

I stayed a few nights with my dog and was concerned there might not be grass nearby. There was plenty in front of the hotel and across the street by the beach. The workers were all helpful and kind, and they loved my dog as much as she loved the attention.

We spent four nights here, both before and after visiting the Putre area, and it was a wonderful surprise. The hotel seemed new and was in great shape. Our executive room was spacious, with a huge bed, great bedding, a large shower, and two sinks. It faced the beach, which was the nicest in Arica, with beachside cafes a short walk away. The city center is a bit distant, but still walkable. The front desk team were consistently helpful and attentive. Breakfast was great, and dinner had some nice choices, though the staff could have been a little more polished. The pool area was very pleasant. Noise is the one possible drawback. On a holiday eve, a corporate event at the hotel and a dance party on the beach both made noise all night. The other nights were peaceful. Highly recommended for a rest and more varied food after time in the altiplano.

We had a great four-night stay at Novotel. Even the standard rooms are spacious and offer a nice ocean view. The buffet breakfast has plenty of options, and the restaurant food was very good. The pool was cleaned each morning. It’s about a five-minute taxi ride to the city center. We’d happily come back.

A great pool, though it could use a little maintenance. Breakfast is good, but what’s available changes unpredictably from one day to the next. Sometimes there’s a great cake, sometimes something else, maybe leftovers from the day before? I like having it and miss it when it’s gone, so I wish it were there every day. The beach is unfortunately dirty and unpleasant. Maybe the city needs help from private businesses with that. Without a car, you have to walk to the mall and city center or take an Uber. A good place to relax and spend a few days off.
