Campamento Ñandú

The common area was a great place to meet people, and the location made it easy to walk everywhere. The hostel is spacious and well maintained, with a big, well equipped kitchen and spotless bathrooms. Juan doesn’t fill the dorms to capacity, which makes them more comfortable. He’s very welcoming, knows the hikes and area well, and always has good recommendations. He loves the outdoors and travel, so there are endless conversations to be had with him. One of the best hostels I’ve stayed in!

Juan, the owner, speaks English and knows a lot about hiking in Patagonia. There are topo maps on the walls. We spent two nights here and would definitely come back. The rooms were spacious and nicely decorated, with little dining bars. There’s a big shared kitchen and two other common rooms, and the location is convenient for restaurants.

My private room was cozy and comfortable, and the price was good. Juan was a fantastic, helpful host throughout my stay, even dropping me off at the border crossing to Argentina. A lovely experience, and I’d recommend Campamento Ñandú to anyone visiting Chile Chico.

I was stuck in Chile Chico waiting for motorcycle parts and stayed at Ñandú. Juan was amazing and helped a lot with translating and liaising with the local mechanic. The hostel is a fantastic place to hang out, with everything you need. Can’t recommend it enough! 🙌
