We arrived around 6 pm, my wife and I, but the reservation we'd made wasn't honored. They quoted a higher price than the advertised one, then added a fee for paying by credit card. We've never had that happen at any hotel we've stayed at around the world. The receptionist said room 308 was the best suite available, but it was dark and unclean, with mildew around the wash basin and stains on the walls. There was no heater, just a small portable one, and nowhere to charge our phones. I couldn't find anyone to buy a drink from, either. The shower head was held in place with a piece of string. The hotel is advertised as "NEW," which isn't true. It's old and run-down, and the elevator floor isn't level, a trip hazard that suggests poor maintenance. Another time, after we'd gone out to lunch, I rang the bell and waited 20 minutes for the receptionist to let us back in. Nobody came. I don't recommend this place and hope I never have to return.

The manager saved our trip. He asked about our plans, realized we might have the wrong bus stop, called the bus service to check where we needed to go, and even booked us a taxi. Without his help, we would have gone to the wrong place and missed our ride. The staff were friendly and very helpful too. I'd definitely stay here again next time I visit.

Breakfast was fine, and the bathroom was spotless, though cramped. The room itself was a letdown: the beds were uncomfortable and the linens needed replacing. Then they switched us without warning to a larger, more expensive room, saying "the system failed" and that the one I'd booked wasn't available. Bad experience.

The location is the strongest point, especially if you need to get around downtown Concepción. I saw a very friendly person cleaning the room, and the buffet breakfast I had was fine, though nothing special. But the room was in very poor shape: the floor was dirty and stained, and the bed was small and badly made. I wouldn't recommend the hotel.
