El Caleuche Apart Hotel

The location was the only real plus. There are better rentals nearby, and I definitely wouldn’t rent here again. The cabin cost $71,000 a day for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, then $65,000 for Monday. For what we got, I’d have been lucky to pay $30,000. We booked for a weekend and I’d asked for a particular cabin, but they gave us a different one when we arrived. It was so tiny that three of us couldn’t fit. After I complained, they moved us, and I later learned that cabin was cheaper: the one I’d asked for was $53,000 base price + $12,000 per extra person, while the one we got was $47,000 + $12,000. The place was dirty and in poor shape. There was mold in the bathroom, no drain cover in the shower, and a sewer smell throughout. The dishes were dirty, the toilet seat was broken, and the rusty, blurry mirror was impossible to see yourself in. The bed springs stuck out, and the double-bed mattress was at least 15 cm smaller than its base. Just one stove knob worked. The refrigerator leaked inside, so we had to put everything in bags. The remote had dead batteries, and they crushed them to make it work. Every morning there was a terrible gas smell from the cabin, and several of us left worried. It’s one building split in two, so you hear everything next door, even an ordinary conversation. Reception was unfriendly, staff didn’t seem to know which rooms they were assigning, and WhatsApp support was terrible. Definitely not worth the price.

For what they charge, these rooms are unacceptable. The cabins are dirty, the doors are in bad shape, and there’s a damp smell throughout.

After the unpleasant experience with Caleuche, Falabella travel agency quickly sorted things out for me, and I found somewhere better to stay. Caleuche Cabins didn’t honor a reservation I’d made through an app, even after it had been canceled. The receptionist also said children over 4 years old pay the adult rate. These cabins are awful and could ruin your vacation.

Quiet and clean, with a homey feel. It’s central and reasonably priced.
