The lodge isn't luxurious, but it's clean and the staff are attentive, answering questions and helping with problems. The location is great, close to the city center and within walking distance of almost all the island's restaurants and souvenir shops. Breakfast portions were generous, and the farm-to-table fruit was very fresh. The main thing to improve is the window screens. I got 10 mosquito bites during our two-night stay.

Yarela, who manages the place and looks after the grounds, was always easy to reach and quick to respond to our questions and requests. The kitchen was clean and thoughtfully equipped, with cooking utensils, a big fridge, kettle, four-burner stove, toaster, and microwave, all in good working order. Our room was more spacious than others we’ve stayed in at the same price, and even had a bathtub. You can request daily cleaning. On Rapa Nui, expectations have to be adjusted unless you’re ready to pay astronomical rates at one of the few super-luxury hotels. This place has what you need for a great stay.

Kahina Lodge sits at one end of the Main Street, so shops, restaurants, and the water are all within walking distance. I like staying where I can step outside into local daily life, and this was just right for that. Nicole welcomed me warmly, and my room was charming, comfortable, and clean. The grounds gave me a real sense of being on this incredible island. Breakfast was ready on time each morning, with plenty to eat, and I could do laundry during my weeklong stay. I was there for my birthday, and Kahina Lodge became a big part of those unforgettable memories. I’ve traveled all over and would happily recommend it. I hope to stay again if I return to Rapa Nui.

We stayed five days and four nights, and it turned into a lovely Easter Island memory. It was my wife’s birthday while we were there, and they arranged a birthday cake for us. The boss was so enthusiastic, and the location was great. Having breakfast and a washing machine available made a longer trip much easier. We really miss the people there and their cute cat.

The manager and staff were kind and helpful, and I liked spending time in the garden with the dogs in the yard. It’s right on the main street and about a ten-minute walk from the airport. I stayed three days and enjoyed the place, though the toilet in my room was rotten.
