Hostal Avenue

Roxana looked after us wonderfully, and the service was excellent. I stayed with my 10-year-old grandson, and we had everything we needed. I highly recommend it.

The rooms are tiny, and the toilet is so close to the wall that my knees touched it when I sat down. I'm only 5'2". We found a new apartment later for 40,000 pesos a night in Peñuelas, behind the Enjoy Hotel and next to the beach. It had parking, two bedrooms, a balcony, and all kinds of appliances. This hostel is expensive for what it offers and feels more like an old motel. Parking here is a nightmare. They say there's parking, but really there's only one space, on a super busy avenue. Everyone honks and it creates a huge traffic jam with buses while they open the gate for your car. We arrived in the early hours and needed to sleep in, but got woken at 8 a.m. by loud banging on the door because a motorcycle behind our car had to be moved. At 10 a.m. they banged again to ask if we wanted the room cleaned. We couldn't get back to sleep after being woken twice in less than two hours. The shower was another problem. No hot water ever came out. They asked us to move to a room where the water worked, while also telling me to move the car back quickly. I had to go outside with shampoo in my hair and a towel wrapped around me to move it. The new room was just as run-down as the first. When we opened the curtain, the whole thing fell to the floor, metal frame and all, so we had to sleep without a curtain that night. HORRIBLE is the only word for this place.

We had a comfortable, quiet place to relax, and the prices were excellent. The owner was very friendly, greeted us with a smile, and explained everything. It was beautiful and cozy.
