I came away loving this place. The beds were warm and comfortable, there were plenty of bathrooms with showers, and the showers were quick. Hot water was adequate, though there wasn't a lot of it. Everything felt reasonable, and it was moderately priced for a hostal, worth every peso. The place was sparkling clean, well kept, and the staff were friendly and helpful. You get your own keys, there are no hassles, and the wi-fi was excellent. The location is excellent if you don't need the beach, which is in a different town beyond the Lider. Ojo is on the main street in La Serena town, a short walk from the main plaza. The Ojo de Pez sign is at ground level, not up high, and nearby buses go straight to the airport. I bought a few breakfast extras, individual milk drinks for coffee and a small tin of coffee since once a day wasn't enough. Lovely place, not one hassle, no negative comments. Congratulations to the owner and staff on this gem of a perfect hostal. I loved it!

The private rooms are spacious, and the place is clean and central. But there's NO kitchen for cooking your own food, the breakfast was absolutely terrible, and it's expensive for what you get.

The parking was a long way from the hostel, and the breakfast wasn't very good.

The rooms are cozy, and you can sit out on a terrace balcony overlooking the main street. It's right in the city center, and they offer breakfast in the morning. The cleanliness was exquisite. They gave us all the information we needed, a city map, and showed us points of interest. Excellent hostel and unbeatable service. Totally recommendable.

The location is very good for a quick stay, but don't expect the great balcony in the photos unless you book room 1, which is the most expensive. For 35€ we expected more than the minimum service. The shared shower was very clean, but the breakfast was only packaged products, and yogurt wasn't available until 9am, awkward when excursions leave between 8am and 8:30am. The common room was very basic, and our room smelled damp. We couldn't leave our bags while we were out on an excursion, so we had to take them with us. No service, no information. Disappointing!
