We chose not to stay without running water, so I asked for a refund. They didn’t know how to refund a card payment, so I had to take cash instead. Terrible customer service. Earlier that morning, the hotel had messaged on WhatsApp to ask when we’d arrive. We replied, arrived at the time we’d given, paid, picked up our bags, and carried them upstairs. After using the bathroom, I found there was no water and went back down to tell them. They said they already knew there would be no water that day, though it would probably be fixed by the next day. Nobody mentioned this on WhatsApp or at check-in. They let us pay and haul our luggage upstairs without saying anything, as if we wouldn’t notice. 🙄

The lake view was beautiful, and the wood-paneled room had a comfortable bed, though the bathroom was small. Wi-Fi only worked in one room in the dining area, not in the bedrooms. The night meal waitress was amazing, so patient and attentive. Breakfast was so-so.

The restaurant food was amazing, though breakfast was pretty simple. The heaters didn’t work, and they found me a “temporary” fix with one heater that could warm just one floor.

I had a great time at Caban̈as Ricapillan. The owners and staff were so welcoming, and the rooms were excellent.
