Hotel Seminario

The views over the city and sea are brilliant, and the rooms are large with plenty of space. Breakfast is included and was great. It's a great hostel close to the town centre. If we'd known how beautiful Puerto Varas was, we might have gone straight there, but we were very happy with this hostel.

I still haven't got the refund the manager promised. For over a month I've tried to sort it out, but after empty promises there are now no replies. They overcharged me, said they'd refund the extra, and then charged me the actual amount as well. At check-in, the clerk first showed us the wrong room and then gave us the wrong key, so we couldn't lock the door. We were exhausted after arriving late and dealing with the billing mess, and since we only stayed one night, we didn't make a fuss. The place shows its age and isn't near the bus terminal. I honestly don't understand all the good reviews. I'd give it no stars if I could.

The beds were comfortable, and breakfast was nice. It's a nice hotel up on a hill.

The staff were very attentive and did their best to help us, so the service was very good. Still, I wouldn't recommend the hotel for the price, and I wouldn't go back. The building is old and poorly maintained, and the bathroom in our room was so dirty that we had to ask for disinfectant and buy cleaning supplies. We picked this place over another well-known hotel at the same price because it had parking, but the options were either leaving the car on the sidewalk or sharing a tiny space that supposedly fits five cars. Getting out meant coordinating with other guests and risking a call to move the car, which was a real hassle. The buffet had bread, butter and jam, hard-boiled egg and tomato, ham and cheese, marble cake, cereal, two kinds of yogurt and juice, milk, plus coffee and tea. The products weren't very good.
